Chemical Peels For Acne Scars

Acne is one of the most common skin problems affecting people worldwide and a general misconception is that acne affects only teenagers, but many are surprised to learn that adults also suffer from this same inconvenience. In fact nearly 90 percent of people suffer from acne sometime in their lifetime and whilst acne is dreaded, it usually shows up during our teenage years and fortunately, many people outgrow it.

Generally, acne is the result of excess oil or sebum in the hair follicles but this is not the only cause nor does it mean that over production of oil equals acne either. The oil clogged inside the pore, not on the outside of the skin is what makes a pimple although acne is more of a contemporary problem and not a condition people in the past generally had to worry about.

Among the many causes of clogged pores are the use of makeup, everyday air particles and often a simple case of hormonal changes but while acne is a part of life for many individuals, it can be effectively treated. Other factors can be responsible to, like the consumption of too much junk and reprocessed food, which is high in unhealthy sugars.

Sometimes when acne is difficult to cure, a dermatologist will suggest a different type of medication which is more effective but may require more time to work. Usually, follow-up visits will be necessary to that the acne is being cured without further intervention being required. Cleanliness is important, especially beneath the fingernails where germs and bacteria can be found and infect the already sensitive skin condition by scratching.

Germs and bacteria are not normally seen by the naked eye so just because the fingernails look clean does not actually mean they are. This is why an acne sufferer should avoid any direct contact between their hand and the blemished area.

With ninety percent of people having acne at some stage in their life it is easy to see people with perfect skin are rare and current studies are now indicating that acne may well be hereditary. The most likely scenario is that you will contact acne while you are young probably around puberty.

If necessary, acne sufferers should consult a dermatologist or qualified physician for acne treatment. If you are unsure about you own situation then contact your local dermatologist of family physician as the information provided here is for guidance only and not a replacement for the opinion of a medical professional.
