Treatment Of Adult Acne
Acne is an extremely prevalent skin condition affecting many people globally but does not just affect the young. In actual fact it is probably more common than you thought with ninety percent of the world’s population suffering with acne in one form or another during their lifetime.
Our bodies produce oil called sebum which is quite normal but sometimes we produce too much and this clogs the hair follicles which can be one of the causes of acne but excess oil is not the only cause nor does it mean that someone who has excess oil in their hair follicles will develop acne. Acne is the result of the sebum in the pores and not the skin itself although the condition does seem to be a modern problem and not something we have always had to live with.
Fortunately acne can be treated and one off the many causes of this condition is the hormone adjustments made when a person is growing up although it can also be as a result of makeup that has not been removed fully or pollution. Even out diet can play a part in the cause of acne as much of our diet today is made up of unhealthy processed foods.
Treatment Of Adult Acne...
More persistent cases of acne will probably need stronger medication which can be prescribed by a dermatologist. When medication is prescribed, normally the doctor involved will want to see the patient to ensure the acne is clearing according to plan and decide whether to use more extreme methods. The person suffering with acne must remember not to scratch at or attempt to remove and pimples as any bacteria carried beneath the nails could cause further infection.
Unfortunately just because fingernails look clean does not mean they are, and as bacteria are usually invisible to the naked eye, there is no guarantee that an infection cannot be passed on. It is for this very reason that anyone who suffers with acne should not touch their acne with their bare hands.
As very few people have completely blemish free skin, there is a good chance that if you haven’t had acne that you may well experience it at some stage especially if your parents suffered with it as well. In the vast majority of acne cases though, it is caused by the transition from a child to an adult and the changes that take place during this period.
Nevertheless it is still best to contact a skin specialist before you start any type of medication. The information here is not designed to replace the advice given by a doctor, dermatologist or other medical professional.
